How To Prevent Your Pipes From Freezing
Pipes start to freeze when the temperature drops to around 20 degrees Fahrenheit
Tips
Keep your thermostat at 55 degrees at least; however, we recommend 65 degrees if possible
During freezes, let cold faucet water on the exterior walls to trickle to relieve pressure in the pipes and allow water to keep moving
Open cabinet doors to let the warm air circulate the pipes
Insulate pipes that are not in insulated areas such as garages, basements and attics with foam pipe sleeves or heat tape
Disconnect outdoor hoses and shut off water to exterior faucets
Seal holes or gaps around doors and windows to prevent drafts
Keep garage doors closed during freezes
